Tomorrow’s neighborhood: Final building measures in the creative quarter around NeuHouse
Formerly a gap in urban development, the area around NeuHouse and the former wholesale flower market is now establishing itself as one of the most popular venues for the art and creative scene. With the foreseeable completion of a total of six planned new buildings, a fresh, colorful flair is coming to Southern Friedrichsstadt that will not only attract enthusiasts from the creative industry. In addition to commercial spaces with project rooms, galleries and studios as well as start-ups and workshops, cozy cafés and restaurants make for an enjoyable and inviting atmosphere. The result is a lively meeting point that enables intercultural encounters and a productive lifestyle all at the same time.
In addition to being a cultural park with diverse creative and productive possibilities, the elaborately redesigned Besselpark also makes for a green oasis of recreation. The newly designed playground offers perfect leisure activities for families with children.
Almost done: The FRIZZ 23, the first new commercial building group in Germany, creates a lively meeting place for social and cultural exchange, mutual inspiration and the creation of new impulses with a colorful and diverse mix of art and creativity, education and retail as well as gastronomy.
The Metropolenhaus 3 at the Jewish Museum has entered the last construction phase. It offers space for an “intercultural mosaic” with projects, workshops and events, thus creating new stimuli for design, art and education.
With a new publishing and editorial building including a café, the taz also will become part of the new art and creative quarter in Kreuzberg.
With its timely completion, the IBeB – the Integrative Building Project at the former wholesale flower market – will become a location that combines living and working, aiming at strengthening neighborly relationships.
